Urvashi Rautela with Aftab Shivdasani, Vivek Oberoi and Riteish Deshmukh in Great Grand Masti |
It is unfair to expect any cinematic brilliance from a film like Great Grand Masti, but the least once can expect is a most primordial form of entertainment. As oppose to Masti and Grand Masti, Great Grand Masti not only fails to entertain but also fills us with an urge to punch in the face of the maker for insulting our patronage. No one ordinary can make a movie this bad. It requires chutzpah to spin such a spineless yarn. A movie like this is supposed to present raunchy ideas in the cheesiest manner possible. Alas, Great Grand Masti proves to be a dud even in this regard. Even for a movie riding on banality and cliches, it seems to touch a new low.
A Still from Great Grand Masti |
Great Grand Masti is a juvenile concoction of banal storytelling, unimaginative direction and hamming of the worst kind. Who would believe that Indra Kumar is the same person who has directed films like Dil and Mann? It appears Indra Kumar is well past his prime. A film like Great Grand Masti is a definitive proof. For all those who got excited by the reports of the Dil sequel going to the floors by year end, Great Grand Masti is a rude shock. To watch it is like undergoing a never-ending mental torture. If, however, you do chose to watch it then the only way to keep your cool is to close your eyes and plug your ears. Best of luck to all such bravehearts!
