Excerpts
Let
us go back to the very beginning of your journey as an actor. Tell us how you
came to Bollywood all the way from Auckland.
I always wanted to be an
actor but you go through different phases of life. I completed my education and
then had to face the difficult task of convincing my parents. I subsequently
came to Mumbai and after some struggle landed up with Love Exchange.
How
did you bag the role in Aksar 2?
Actually, I was tested for
different roles in the movie. There are three male leads in the movie. I was
asked to come dressed for various parts, one after the other. You see Anant
Mahadevan has a very different approach to this. He is looking for the actor in
you all the time. Eventually, I landed up with the part that I am playing in
the film.
Tell
us about your role in Aksar 2.
I am not in a position to
disclose much at this point in time but all I can tell you is that the role has
some grey shades. Everybody loves to play a romantic part at the beginning of
one’s career but it is roles like these that give some real challenge to an
actor.
Aksar
2 is coming a decade after Aksar. Now, you have big shoes to fill. Tell us
about the people’s expectations as well as your own surrounding the film.
Aksar was a big film with
Emraan Hashmi, Udita Goswami, and Dino Morea. It also had the famous "Jhalak
Dikhlaja" song by Himesh Reshammiya. So obviously the expectations are
quite high. I myself am quite eagerly looking forward to it.
Could
you throw some light on the movie’s plot?
It is going to be a thriller,
one that’s quite relevant to our time and our impatient generation. I share interesting
equation with the other characters. It was great fun working with Sreesanth,
Zareen, and the other actors. Since this is going to be a modern thriller I am
sure the audiences will be quite interested in watching it.
You
come across as someone who takes his fitness seriously. How important it is for
a modern day actor to focus on fitness?
Well, it is of paramount
important to stay fit whether you are an actor or belong to some other profession. The
key is to eat right and stay healthy. I prefer to wake up early and follow my
exercise routine. That keeps me in the right spirit throughout the day.
Tell
us about your upcoming projects.
After Aksar 2 another of my
movie is lined up in which I am starring opposite Hrishitaa Bhatt. It is basically
a love story which deals with the medical problems associated with a woman
suffering from schizophrenia and the man who loves her.
