As part of Prem Nath Film Festival, Zee Classic
will also showcase a Special Feature on the life of Prem Nath ji,
created by his son Monty Nath, titled ‘Amar Prem Nath’ every Saturday at 11:30
AM, immediately following the a popular Prem Nath movie. Amar Prem Nath is a
tribute to the actor by his son Monty Nath who is a filmmaker himself. In Monty’s
own words, “Even in
his time, Dad was a visionary. His approach towards movies was very different.
He didn’t want to be the hero; he just wanted to entertain everyone. He soon
realized that playing the antagonist brought him real thrill. Amar Prem Nath is
my way of showing the world what kind of person my father was and I am really
thrilled to be able to share this film with everyone. I would like to thank Zee
Classic for celebrating my father’s life journey!”
Amar Prem Nath can best be described as a retelling
of Prem Nath ji’s journey in the film industry as one of Hindi cinema’s most-loved
villains. The Special Feature offers unseen interviews of some of the stalwarts
of Hindi cinema such as Dharmendra, Shammi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Vinod
Khanna, Shashi Kapoor, Subhash Ghai, and Amrish Puri, among others. It also features inputs from the likes of Ajit, Pran, Dara Singh,
Beena Rai, and Om Prakash.
In a career spanning well over
three decades, Prem Nath ji had over 75 movies to his credit. He was such a
gifted actor that he could showcase a different style with every movie. Prem
Nath ji’s breakthrough film was Raj Kapoor’s 1948 directorial debut film Aag
wherein Prem Nath ji played the lead. At a time when many actors avoided
negative roles, Prem Nath ji took the idea of the antagonist to a whole new
level by playing menacing characters that both scared and thrilled the
audiences. His exploits paved the way for others actors to play strong negative
characters that gave impetus to the story. Till date, Prem Nath ji continues to
be a great source of inspiration and role model for young actors.
To reminisce Prem
Nath’s incredible film journey, tune in to watch ‘Prem Nath Film Festival’
followed by a special feature Amar Prem Nath at 11:30 AM on Zee Classic
every Saturday starting 11th November.
