Romeo Akbar Walter (RAW), starring John Abraham, Sikandar Kher, Jackie Shroff, and Mouni Roy, is a tribute to those brave men and women who sacrifice their lives for their nation while remaining unsung heroes. Directed by Robbie Grewal, RAW is a spy thriller that's inspired by true events leading to the 1971 India-Pakistan War.

My YouTube Review of RAW

The final scene of RAW gave me goosebumps just like the climax of Dangal. The film is a slow burning espionage thriller made in the vein of films based on John le Carre's spy fiction books. While it's impossible to think of RAW without Raazi, I daresay RAW is far superior in terms of cinematic storytelling and attention to period detail. Sikandar Kher stands out as first amongst equals as far as acting performances are concerned. For me, it's his nigh perfect Western Pakistani Punjabi accent that takes the cherry. As for John Abraham, he yet again succeeds in making us clench our fists out of pride and patriotic fervor for our motherland. Jackie Shroff to his credit brings a George Smile-esque touch to his spymaster character. Overall, RAW, directed by Robbie Grewal, is one of the best spy films to have come out of India.

Rating: 7/10
