A Potpourri of Vestiges Feature
Numerous successful weekends later,
Zoom TV and Oaksmith® Gold Glasses bring #WeekendLive this Sunday, featuring the
legendary Parikrama. 29 years since inception in 1991,India’s favorite rock and
roll band Parikramais the music millennial music lovers have grown up
listening.
#WeekendLive is a collaborative
effort between the leading entertainment channel Zoom TV, and new to India’s
very happening music and performances scene, Oaksmith® Gold Glasses (@OaksmithGoldIndia on Facebook &
Instagram). As many live shows cancel, platforms like #WeekendLive are
pioneering efforts to build a work-from-home culture for the artists, and
giving roots to an emerging format for live music with #StayHome – House
Concerts.
#WeekendLive leverages “Live”
feature of popular social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, as some
of India’s top talents perform from the safety of their homes, straight to that
of their audiences – thereby promoting #StayHome.
This week’s artist - the legend
and audiences’favorite Parikrama is undoubtedly India’s favorite rock &
roll band since the ‘90’s. In spite of many memorable live performances, and with
numerous original singles–Parikrama is most remembered for “But it Rained”. Released
in 1996, the track was dedicated to kidnappings in Kashmir valley at that time,
and possibly their biggest hit. The track also featured in the 2014 listing of
"25 Greatest Indian Rock Songs of the last 25 Years" by Rolling Stone
India.
Parikrama’s standout style
comprises of classical music instruments like the mridangam, tabla& flute,
blended beautifully with conventional rock ones like guitar, drums and
keyboards. Uniquely, theirrecordings comprise of live performances,as thousands of fans witness
them at festivals and stages around the world. This weekend, besides a great
live performance and possibly a walk down memory lane, the band will also
deliver an ode to their lead guitarist andincredibly talented - Sonam Sherpa,
who shockingly passed away recently due to a cardiac arrest.
